'Radio Tokyo' - Hookworms

Hookworms are a shoegaze/psychedelic five-piece from Leeds. Known only by their initials, the band create music as fuzzy and bizarre as their identities. Their brilliant début album, 'Pearl Mystic', was released in early March this year, however their latest single is not a track from this record. 'Radio Tokyo' is something completely new, due for release as a 7" on Too Pure Singles Club.

The track greets us with waves of jagged guitar and we soon become acquainted with the crazed wails of frontman MJ. It's a lot more upbeat than anything they've released before, and if it wasn't for the wonderfully distorted vibe of the song, it'd be verging on pop (this, of course, is not a bad thing).
Despite being an easier listen, 'Radio Tokyo' is just as edgy and raw as previous material, and the band have by no means lost the sheer power and intensity that makes them so great.

After a great EP, an incredible début, and now a brilliant new single, Hookworms are looking very promising.
