'LoveBlood' and 'Lady Percy' - the album's first singles - are punchy and feel-good. Another stand-out track, 'Love Lust', is simple but cheery and twee. The lyrics are hopelessly romantic, as if taken straight from the love letter of an awkward, love-struck teenage boy. The lyrics: 'You've the strength of the Greeks, you are god's masterpiece. You are every triumph, every victory, I believe in every breath you breathe.' are wonderfully Prince Charming-like. The song tells a sad story of unrequited love, yet manages to sound whimsical and bright.
The entire album is quaint, quirky and idyllic. King Charles is enchanting (yet somehow looks a cross between rastafarian and royalty) and has an incredible talent for writing songs that are romantic and rebellious, practically poetry. I couldn't recommend this album enough.
