'Cough Cough' - Everything Everything

Two years after the release of their debut album 'Man Alive', British indie band Everything Everything are back with new single 'Cough Cough'.

The track is similar to the material on their first album, but their sound is slightly more evolved. Urgent, jagged drumming and frantic backing vocals coupled with frontman Jonathan Higgs' staccato vocals make the song brilliantly and typically Everything Everything-esque.
The track is fiery and oozes anger and frustration at the way the world is. Frontman Jonathan describes the song by saying "‘Cough Cough’ is about the power of money and the desire to get away from it. It’s also about waking up and seeing the world as an unfair place and then slipping back under the spell of greed. It’s about having no money, and wanting more money, and wanting nothing to do with money at all.”"

From the powerful delivery of the lyrics "I'm coming alive, I'm having it now," to the smooth, polished but just as triumphant chorus, 'Cough Cough' is an exciting and reassuring hint as to what can be expected from the band's second album 'Arc', due for release early next year.
