'Enjoy It While It Lasts' is the newly released debut album of Spector; a sharply dressed, five-piece indie rock band from London. While the album's name suggests a possible end for the band, frontman Fred Macpherson has assured us they're simply encouraging everyone to live life to the full. (Phew.)
The band have a knack for producing music that is simple yet undoubtedly good, and 'Enjoy It While It Lasts' only confirms this. Amongst the band's already well-received singles, such as 'Never Fade Away' and the anthemic 'Chevy Thunder', the album flaunts punchy, angsty gems like the brilliant 'Twenty Nothing' - close your eyes while this is playing and you're transported to a '50s American diner where "Girl I know we're stuck but let's move at our own pace, heard he was your rock, does that make me your hard place?" is blasting out of a jukebox. Just brilliant.
'What You Wanted', like most other tracks on the album, is comprised of swooning vocals and infectious guitar, dripping with romantic nostalgia. 'Lay Low' is a haunting ballad; a woeful Fred wails and laments a dying love. Accompanied by sympathetic, 'we're here for you, man' guitar and drums, it's pretty beautiful.
In short, the entire album is outstanding and Spector have proved that they are truly worthy of all the praise they have and are sure to receive. You can buy 'Enjoy It While It Lasts' here.
