'Please, Please Do Not Disturb' - The Vaccines

The Vaccines, it seems, are constantly working on material for their ever-hungry fans. Their newest release, EP 'Please Please Do Not Disturb', was made available online last week. (If you didn't already know, you can download it for free here).

The EP is stripped-down and beautifully simplistic, consisting almost entirely of just vocals and a guitar. There are four cover tracks on the EP, including one of an ABBA classic - yes, you read right - ABBA.

Johnny Cash is undoubtedly a hard act to follow, but The Vaccines have given the track 'The Beast In Mea summery, 'spend-the-night-on-the-beach' feel, while still carrying a touch of sadness along with it. (Imagine going to the beach and losing a flip-flop in the sea, then you've got it. Kind of. This is a confusing analogy...it's a very good cover).
'Mannequin' is gorgeously haunting, and 'That Summer Feeling' belongs crackling out of a little radio in a garden, in the English countryside. The London lovelies have given every track their trademark 'Vaccines' lick of paint, and have reinvented each song into something completely refreshing and new.
The boys' take on ABBA's 'The Winner Takes It All' is something incredibly special. Forget the original version that everyone's grown to love (or hate), Justin's gorgeously boyish voice combined with soft backing vocals transform this cheesy, 'sitting-in-the-theatre, pass-Nan-a-tissue' ballad into something wonderfully moving and accessible to music fans under the age of forty.

In short, this EP is further testament to The Vaccines' brilliant and unrivalled musical talent, and downloading it will probably be the best thing you do...ever.
