Unlike previous single releases - like 'Brianstorm' or 'My Propeller' - that grab you with brilliant riffs and insane drumming, 'Do I Wanna Know?' is slow, moody, and draws you in. We like it that way.
The chorus is dark, throbbing and stormy. Alex Turner drawls "Ever thought of calling when you've had a few?" - lyrics relating to being 'under the influence' reminiscent of a younger, observant Turner discussing the same topic on the band's debut album. The track is impossibly sexy and almost a drowsier 'R U Mine?".
The wait for new Arctics material has been unbearably long, and though it may be hard to believe another single is finally here - yes, Alex did just tell you to "simmer down and pucker up." Arctic Monkeys are back and it's sounding good.
