The Black Keys at the O2 Arena

Last night, the 13th of December, The Black Keys played the O2 Arena for the final show of their sold-out UK tour.

London indie band The Maccabees supported, their setlist consisting mostly of tracks from their newest album, 'Given To The Wild'. During their set they also performed old favourites like 'Love You Better' and 'Wall of Arms', and the constant cheers from fans were evidence that The Maccabees had successfully whetted the crowd's appetite.

Not long after, The Black Keys themselves took to the stage and wasted no time breaking into the hugely popular 'Howlin' For You'. This was followed by 'Next Girl' and 'Run Right Back', giving the ring of teenage boys in the centre of the crowd every excuse to thrash around and throw peoples' shoes/hats/personal belongings.
Classic tracks from earlier albums were woven inbetween the band's El Camino material, and frontman Dan Auerbach's flawless vocals throughout the set coated every member of the crowd in the blues-rock duo's 'Thickfreakness'.

'Gold on the Ceiling' was one of the night's many highlights, as well as 'Little Black Submarines' - the lyrics of which were wailed back at the stage by the band's devoted followers, almost like worship.
At the end of the gig a giant disco ball was revealed above the stage, complimenting the band's incredible encore - which consisted of 'Everlasting Light' and 'I Got Mine'. It was the perfect end to a great show, by a band who have been consistently brilliant for over ten years.
Another tour now, please.
